Debbie and I managed to get away for a long weekend over Easter to the Cotswold Water Park at Cerney Wick and had decent weather for both days. freezing cold but enough sun to take your mind off your frostbit extremities! It certainly prevented my cabin fever getting any worse.
Obviously not much around in the insect world but a beautiful part of the world and plenty of birds to keep me interested, no rarities but a few to add to my year list for 2013.
I have been migrating across to an Imac at home and am currently running a windows laptop simultaneously and downloading my pictures to both which is giving me more security if one of the hard drives gives up. It is, however, causing me endless confusion in Lightroom when trying to remember both sets of shortcuts. I still can't get used to a one buttoned mouse either.
I have been working from home today and was disturbed (luckily at lunchtime if the boss is looking in) by a Pheasant stalking around our compact suburban garden, unexpected but very welcome. As usual I was so busy watching it that I forgot to get the camera out - so no pictures.
The only other wildlife incident of note is that I am looking after a neighbours gold fish which already seems to have lost the will to live and is exhibiting all the classic symptoms of expiring whilst in my care. Bulletins to follow.
Roll on the sun and the first emergences from the pond! Despite the lack of frog spawn we I have dipped a good number of Tadpoles in the pond and there are a few Southern Hawker nymphs skulking waiting for Spring to arrive.
